Goals and tasks

The main objectives of the Panchayat Samiti are to promote rural development and social justice by planning and implementing development programmes at the village level, monitoring the functioning of the Gram Panchayats and allocating resources for local infrastructure and welfare activities. The major functions are to approve the Gram Panchayat schemes, supervise the Gram Panchayats, prioritize the village level issues and implement various state and central government schemes for sectors like agriculture, health, water supply and social welfare.

 

Objectives 

  • Local Economic Development:

To promote and facilitate economic development at the local level within its jurisdiction.  

  • Social Justice:

Ensuring social justice by providing services and implementing programs for marginalized communities, women and the poor at the group level.  

  • Rural Development:

Achieving comprehensive and sustainable rural development by strengthening the Panchayat Raj system and empowering elected representatives.

Tasks

  • Planning and resource allocation:

Collecting and evaluating Gram Panchayat plans, processing for funding and implementing at the group level.  

  • Supervision of Gram Panchayats:

To supervise and monitor the functioning of the Gram Panchayats under their jurisdiction.  

  • Infrastructure Development:

Playing a key role in the development and maintenance of rural infrastructure, including roads, schools, and health centers.  

  • Implementation of the plan:

Supervising and implementing various government schemes and programs, identifying beneficiaries and ensuring their proper implementation.  

  • Problem priority:

Identify and prioritize local problems that need to be solved at the group level to improve rural living standards.  

  • Departmental Supervision:

Managing and coordinating the activities of various departments within the group.
