National Biogas Development Scheme

Information about the scheme:

Under the National Biogas Development Scheme, Central Government grants are given for setting up biogas plants. For general group, the amount is Rs. 14,350/- per plant, for Scheduled Castes and Tribes, the amount is Rs. 22,000/- per plant, for toilet connection, the amount is Rs. 1,600/- per plant.  G.P. Under Cess Fund per machine Rs. 12,000/-  Supplementary grant is payable.

Beneficiaries: Farmers from all categories can avail the benefits but the said beneficiaries should have 2 to 3 animals. Also, they should have 7/12, 8A.

  • Biogas is a great alternative to traditional fuels.
  • Along with biogas production, good quality organic fertilizer, good compost fertilizer helps prevent the spread of diseases and weed seeds.
  • Helps prevent air pollution.
  • This is a good way to dispose of human excreta in rural areas, which helps to avoid problems related to proper sanitation.
  • Women are freed from the problem of gas leakage. It is a great alternative to the shortage of gas cylinders and also saves money.
  • For a family of 5 to 6 people, cooking, breakfast, and heating water can be done at both times.
  • This saves about two gas cylinders per month, saves wood and protects nature.
  • The best organic fertilizer is available in slurry form.

 

How to apply

Application should be made offline in the prescribed format at Taluka level. For more information, contact the Agricultural Development Officer at the district level and the Group Development Officer/Agricultural Officer/Extension Officer (Agriculture) at the taluka level.
